3 of the Highest Swimming Pools in the World
With cityscapes around the world climbing ever higher, it was only a matter of time before the mark of a swimming pool’s convenience would have to include its height above ground. After all, why pay for a penthouse suite if you have to take the lift down to swim? But as these high-flying pools prove, height isn’t everything.
London: The Shangri-La Hotel
Located on the 52nd floor of the Shard skyscraper, at 600ft this 34ft swimming pool is known for obvious reasons as ‘the sky-pool’. Swimmers who can afford the price of a room at the Shangri-La Hotel can enjoy breath-taking views over the River Thames, Westminster and St Paul’s Cathedral in the constant 24-degree water temperature of this exclusive swimming spot. However, for those who like a late night swim, followed perhaps by a cocktail, there is good news. The Shangri-La is offering bar guests the chance to take a dip after 8pm. What a great way to enjoy the city lights.
Dubai: The St. Regis
While not yet completed, this planned highlife infinity pool promises to be something spectacular. This luxurious Dubai swimming pool is due to open in July, 2018, on the 50th floor of the prestigious Palm Tower building. While lower in terms of floors than the Shangri-La pool, the St Regis pool will beat it in terms of sheer footage at 700ft above ground level. The infinity pool will also offer 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding city, sea and beach.
Singapore: The Marina Bay Sands
Coming in somewhere in between both the London and the Dubai entries for the highest pool in the world is the Marina Bay Sands Hotel Infinity Pool. At 650ft it won’t beat the St. Regis pool, but nowhere else in the world can boast a pool spanning three different skyscrapers. At three times the length of an Olympic swimming pool, it’s almost impossible to imagine the length of this outdoor infinity pool. Sitting like a spaceship on top of the hotel, the fresh-air pool offers guests a dramatic view and up-close and personal swimming experience over downtown Singapore, making it the most remarkable pool of the three.
How Pool Lifts Allow You to Enjoy Your Pool
While most of us will never enjoy any high-rise swimming, it doesn’t mean we enjoy our own pools any less. An essential element of any pool experience is, after all, its accessibility and ease of use. The Pool Lift Company specialises in installing swimming pool lifts into a wide range of pool shapes and sizes. Typically, our customers add a pool lift some time after first installing their pool.
From the early Romans through to modern times, swimming pools have always been a thing of pleasure. Designs and styles may have changed over the years, but the aim has stayed the same: to allow the user to enjoy the benefits of submerging and exercising in water in a convenient environment.
